Assistive and Instructional Technology

An Assistive Technology device under IDEA (2004) is defined as “…any item, piece of equipment, or product system, whether acquired commercially off the shelf, modified or customized, that is used to increase, maintain, or improve the functional capabilities of children with disabilities.” Assessment and consultation can be provided by FLLAC to determine if AT can help a student meet IEP goals and complete tasks or perform skills more easily, with less help from others, and in the least restrictive environment possible.
